Youth Firesetting: A Collaborative Approach (2:15 PM – 3:15 PM)

This course is designed to help professionals understand the value of a community-based youth firesetting program.  The fire service is a key element and every discipline within a fire agency can play an important role in a successful intervention.  Case studies will illustrate circumstances where several fire service disciplines have intervened to provide comprehensive services to firesetting youth.  This 1.0 hour course will help participants: Understand the fire service role in youth firesetting intervention, Recognize how different fire service disciplines play a role in youth firesetting behaviors, Examine cases that illustrate multi-disciplinary involvement when youth set fires, Recognize community partners (outside the fire service) who can support fire service responses to youth firesetting behaviors.
